Tox masseter or a TMJ treatment involves injecting tox into the masseter muscle to reduce a square-shaped face or alleviate TMJ symptoms. Injecting tox weakens and relaxes the muscle, resulting in a softer, more oval-shaped face and relief from TMJ symptoms.

Effects generally take 7 to 14 days to fully develop. Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before the treatment. Stop taking aspirin and anti-inflammatory medications a few days before treatment to help prevent bruising. Avoid rubbing the injection site for 24 hours to prevent the spread of the tox.
